Services Held
Services for Pauline Sophie McCombs were held Wednesday, May 28, 1997, at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella. Officiating the services were Dr. Gary Smith of the First Baptist Church in Pella. Interment will be Friday, May 30 at the Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver Colorado.
Pauline Sophie Lautenbach, the daughter of Casper John and Pauline Mildred (Redding) Lautenbach, was born June 8, 1934, at Harvey, Iowa. She died unexpectedly at her home on Friday, May 23, 1997, at the age of 62.
Following high school, Pauline attended Central College in Pella for one year. On December 23, 1968, Pauline was united in marriage with Marvin Eugene McCombs at Oskaloosa, Iowa. Pauline and Marvin raised two children: Susan and Jack. The family moved to Commerce City, Colorado in 1969. Pauline worked for ATT for twenty-two years, retiring in 1993. Marvin passed away on August 18, 1995. Pauline moved to Pella in September of 1996. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Legion Auxiliary in Oskaloosa. Pauline spent many hours doing volunteer work at the VA Medical Center in Knoxville and at the Commerce City, Colorado Police Department. She also enjoyed antique shopping.
Pauline is survived by her children, Susan and her husband, Henry Moore, of Pella, and Jack McCombs and his wife, Cindy, of Thornton, Colorado; three grandchildren, Karen Moore, Adam Moore, and Nicholas McCombs; a great-grandson, Christian James Moore; her mother, Pauline Lautenbach of Pella; three brothers, John Lautenbach of Pella, Danny Lautenbach of Harvey, and Larry Lautenbach of Pella; a sister, Carolyn Jeffers of Ottumwa; a half-brother, Robert Lee “Bud” Lautenbach of Des Moines; and a half-sister, Kathryn Van Vliet of Pella.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Eugene McCombs; her father, Casper John Lautenbach; and a half-sister, Marjorie Lautenbach Kuyper.
