Louise Jane, daughter of William and Elizabeth Fudge, was born in Washington county, Virginia, February 23, 1842, and passed away from this life January 21, 1928, aged 85 years, 10 months and 28 days. Her parents moved from Virginia to Charlestown, Ill., in 1846, and in 1854 they moved to Iowa, settling in Monroe, where Mrs. McBride has since resided. On August 27, 1863, she was united in wedlock to E. A. McBride, and to this union four children were born. Of these, Mrs. Melissa Woody of Ashton, South Dakota, and Nellie McBride of Monroe, survive their mother. William Wiley died at the age of thirteen and Minnie May died in infancy. Mrs. McBride was converted and united with the church in her early womanhood, and throughout her long and useful life she has been a consistent Christian, showing by her daily walk and conversation the beauty of a Christ filled life in her home and in her church activities. She leaves to mourn her loss besides her husband and daughters, her foster daughter, Miss Cora Birkenholtz, one granddaughter and four great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Sarsfield and Mrs. Luetta Smith of Atlantic, Iowa; and four brothers, Martin S. and J. O. Fudge of Atlantic, Iowa, Dave Fudge of Madrid, Nebraska, and Ora E. Fudge of Idaho Falls, Idaho; besides a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church in charge of Rev. R. C. Russell Tuesday afternoon, January 24, and interment made in the cemetery east of Monroe.
