Services Held
Services of V. Dale Masterson, 71 of Oskaloosa, were held Saturday, February 13, 1999, at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton. Rev. John Zieman, Pastor of the United Presbyterian Church in Newton officiated the services. Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery.
Memorials will be accepted to the American Cancer Society.
Born July 10, 1927, in Bussey, Mr. Masterson was the son of Lloyd and Laura Humphery Masterson. He lived in Newton from 1965 to 1996 when he moved to Oskaloosa. He had also lived in Tacoma, Washington. He married Carol Foster December 15, 1950, in Oskaloosa.
Mr. Masterson had been a member of the U.A.W. Local #997, the V.F.W. Newton Post #1655. He was a World War II veteran in the United States Army.
Survivors are his wife, Carol Masterson; three sons and their wives, Dan and Kathy Masterson of Monroe; Tim and Nichole Masterson of Monroe, and Scott and Tammy Masterson of Centerville; two daughters and their husbands, Cathy and Shelby Johnson of Sheldahl, Lora and Jerry Clayworth of Centerville; 18 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters, Verda Kirby and Helen Smith both of Oskaloosa; and one brother, bob and Beverly Masterson of Oskaloosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tina Masterson on June 21, 1983.
