Services Held
Services for Carol L. Masterson, 65, of Monroe, were held Wednesday, February 7, 2001, at the Pence Funeral Home in Newton. Pastor Del Bittner, Pastor Centerville Assembly of God, officiated the services. Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery in Newton. She passed away at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of cancer.
Born September 7, 1935, in Albia, Iowa, Carol was the daughter of Duward and Sylvia McLeod Foster. She lived in Newton for 31 years, Oskaloosa, and Monroe for the last 2 years. She married Virgil Dale Masterson December 15, 1950, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was a homemaker.
Survivors are three sons, Dan and Kathy Masterson of Monroe, Tim and Nicole Masterson of Monroe, and Scott and Tammie Masterson of Centerville, Iowa; two daughters, Cathy and Shelby Johnson of Sheldahl, Iowa, and Lora and Jerry Clayworth of Centerville, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers, Andy Foster of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Glen Foster of Prairie City; three sisters, Joyce Kilderman of Oskaloosa, Midge Gebhart of Centerville, and Jenny Daughter of Texas; and sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law: Verda Kirby, Helen Smith, Bob and Beverly Masterson, all of Oskaloosa; and her mother, Sylvia Foster of Oskaloosa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Dale Masterson on February 10, 1999; a daughter, Tina, on June 21, 1983; and three brothers.
