Services Held
Mary Marshall, 78, of Monroe, died Friday, Aug. 26, 1988, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Monroe Garden Chapel Funeral Home.
Elder Arthur Nichols of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, conducted services. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Survivors are her husband, Orval; two sons, Leroy of Mingo and Eldon on Monroe; three daughters, Bonnie (Mrs. Wayne) Ryther of Newton, Patricia (Mrs. Clifford) Simbro of Newton and Norma (Mrs. Walter) Hannam of Indianola; 21 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Effie Robinson and Margaret (Mrs. Joe) Sille, both of Newton; two step-brothers, Tunis Vonk of Oskaloosa and Richard Vonk of Newton; and six step-sisters, Jennie Hoksbergen, Minnie (Mrs. Peter) Van Manen and Corrie (Mrs. Cornie) Terpstra, all of Sully, Jeannette Vonk and Reno (Mrs. John) Rozenboom, both of Oskaloosa, and Evelena (Mrs. Anthony) DeWege of Denver, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Case Vonk, a son, Leland, a brother, a sister, two sisters in infancy and three grandchildren.
The daughter of Andrew and Gertrude Huisman Vander Schel, she was born July 28, 1910 in the Prairie City Area.
She was married to Orval Marshall Nov. 24, 1926 in Pella.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Monroe Garden Chapel Funeral Home.

Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions to Camp Sunnyside will be accepted.

Mrs. Marshall was a charter member of the TMTM Club, a 4-H leader and a member of the Pythian Sisters.
She had been employed at PAG Seed and as a school bus driver.
