Services Today
Funeral Services for Lois Maddy will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 06, 2007, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Newton. Interment will be at Oakview Cemetery in Albia.
Lois Maddy passed away December 3, 2007, in Newton.
The daughter of William H. and Gladys (Gibson) Williamson, Lois was born September 19, 1922 in Albia, Iowa. She attended Albia High School. Lois was united in marriage with David F. Maddy on August 27, 1943 in Unionville, Missouri. Lois lived in Albia until 1966. She then moved to Newton, where she lived until 1999. Lois lived in Grinnell from 1999 until 2004, when she moved back to Newton.
Lois had worked at JC Penney, and worked at Spurgeon’s for 35 years before retiring in 1986. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking, feeding the birds, planting flowers, traveling, and gardening. Lois was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Newton.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Dianna Kelley of Newton; her son, Dennis (Barbara) Maddy of Marion; 4 grandchildren: Daniel D. Kelley of Newton, Kathie Klonglan of Newton, Chris Maddy of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Cory (Paula) Maddy of Cedar Rapids; 2 great-grandchildren: Trevor Klonglan and Rolin Maddy; 2 sisters Dorothy Funk of West Des Moines, and Eva (Max) Main of Albia; 1 sister-in-law Nora Williamson of Reasnor; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David in 2003; 3 sisters, Neoma Dillon, Lee Whitney, and Wilma O’Brien; and her brother, Johnny Williamson.
