Services Held
Mrs. Walter (Mabel) Loyd, 90, of Cedar Rapids, a resident of rural Monroe from 1955 until 1969, died Sunday morning, April 22, 1984 at the Cedar Rapids Care Center.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 24 at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.
The Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, conducted services. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, Iowa.
Survivors are a daughter, Darlene Liddell of Cedar Rapids; and three grandchildren.
The daughter of George and Ida Hinton Minks, she was born Sept. 25, 1893 in Omaha, Neb.
She and her husband farmed southeast of Malcom for 31 years before moving to a farm near Monroe where they lived until their retirement after which they moved to Grinnell. Following her husband’s death, she moved to Cedar Rapids.
