Services for Sarah M. Lourens of Pella were held Saturday April 13, 2002 at the First Reformed Church in Prairie City. Burial was in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.
Sarah passed away April 10, 2002, at Westridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Knoxville, Iowa.
Born March 14, 1917, in Beacon, Iowa, Sarah was the daughter of Jessie and Mary Mathes McCormick. She lived in Mitchellville for 54 years. On June 1, 1938, Sarah married Albert Lourens at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She belonged to the First Reformed Church in Prairie City.
Survivors are one daughter, Betty (Bill) Johnson of Plano, Texas; 3 grandchildren; a half brother, Harold Plate of Iowa City, Iowa; and a step sister, Thelma Van Zee of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2001; son, Robert in 2000; two brothers; and one sister.
