Services Held
Clifford R. Love, 84, a resident of Newton since 1942 and former resident of Monroe, died Saturday, September 23, 1995, at the Park Centre Care Center of heart failure.
The Rev. David Raymond, pastor of the Congregational United Church of Christ, conducted services.
Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
A public Masonic service was held September 25, 1995, at the Masonic service.
Memorials to the Jasper County Alzheimer’s Support Group will be accepted.
Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Jayne of St. Louis, Missouri; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Kenneth Neff of Monroe and Kay and William Bollig of Bettendorf; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Stevenson of Ottumwa and Mabel Bellows of Oskaloosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Orphy, a brother, James and a sister, Ethel Sullivan.
Mr. Love, a member of the Maytag Management Club, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and a life member of the Musicians Union, had been employed at the Maytag Co. as a tool-designing engineer, retiring September 30, 1975.
He was well known for playing the organ at the Jasper County Care Facility and area nursing homes.
The son of William and Christina Gillispie Love, he was born September 24, 1910, in Lakota and attended Oskaloosa schools.
He was married to Orphy Jones January 21, 1933 in Attica.
Mr. Love also lived in Oskaloosa and Pershing.
