Helen Elizabeth Lord, 56, of 29 S.E. McKinley Ave. died of cancer Wednesday at home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dunn’s Funeral Home. Burial will be in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
She was born in Des Moines and had lived in rural Prairie City, Montana, Michigan and California. She was a free-lance journalist in San Francisco, Calif., for several years, and was a member of PEO Chapter BH in Monroe.
Survivors include two sisters, Clare Copley of Prairie City and Carolyn Marty of Perry, Ohio.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Born in Des Moines, she had lived at Fairmount in rural Prairie City, Montana, Michigan and California. For several years she was a free-lance journalist in San Francisco. She was a member of Chapter BH P.E.O. in Monroe.
Preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Lillian Volk, she is survived by two sisters, Clare Copley of Prairie City and Carolyn Marty of Perry, Ohio.
