Services for Albert Lourens, 88, were held Wednesday, December 12, 2001, at the First Reformed Church in Prairie City. Burial was in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.
Albert, 88, of Pella, formerly of Mitchellville, died Saturday, December 8, 2001, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Albert Lourens was born December 1, 1913, in rural Prairie City, the son of Albert and Aartje (Snetselaar) Lourens. He was united in marriage to Sarah Marie McCormick on June 1, 1938, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Albert farmed in the Mitchellville area and also owned the Colfax Locker.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah, in Knoxville; a daughter, Betty Johnson and her husband, Bill of Plano, Texas; three grandchildren, Jay of Garland, Texas, Jim of Plano, Texas, and Joel and his wife, Wendy of McKinney, Texas; five brothers, Garrett Lourens of Mitchellville, John Lourens of Pella, Ben Lourens of Prairie City, Orie Lourens of Pella, and George Lourens of Cambridge, Iowa. He is also survived by three sisters, Gertrude Van Zee of Pella, Bertha Vander Lune of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Elizabeth Koonce of Santes, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bob in 2000; two brothers, Pete and Geurt; and a sister, Jeanett.
