Services Held
Graveside rites for Carroll Vern Longren, 78, of Newton, a longtime former resident of Reasnor, were held November 6, 1995, at the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
The Rev. J. Ronald Burnett, pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church, conducted services.
Memorials to Alzheimer’s Research will be accepted.
Survivors are two sons, Larry G. of Newton and Roger L. of Waterford, Wisconsin; five grandchildren; and a sister, Delia Butler of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, the former Virginia Warren, a daughter, Sandy, and two sisters, Leila Forsmark and Velma Engle.
Mr. Longren, a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
A 37-year employee of the Maytag Co., Mr. Longren retired in June 1976 from the tool and die department.
The son of Vern D. and Pearl Chapman Longren, he was born August 20, 1917, in Newton and attended Newton schools.
