Mrs. Munson Livingston Departs this Life
Our people were grievously shocked and astounded when the word was flashed around that Mrs. Nelle Livingston had passed away Friday morning. It seemed too incredible to believe as just the evening before she had company to supper. But during a slight operation the next morning she passed away, being unable to stand the shock.
She had been a great sufferer for months and was very frail but nevertheless always all right when asked about her health. Long before time for the first bell to ring for services the church was filled and people standing on the outside. Her friends were legion and all came to the last sad rites. Very comforting to the relatives and friends were the words of Rev. Droz.
Nellie Louise Wing, eldest daughter of Archie and Victoria Wing, was born Aug. 22, 1892 near Prairie City, Iowa. Died in Marion county, near Monroe, Iowa June 8, 1917, being 24 years, 9 months and 17 days old.
At the age of 3 years her parents moved to Kansas and later to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she lived until the death of her mother eleven years ago, when she came to Monroe, Iowa and made her home, with her aunt, Mrs. C. C. Neff, until her marriage to Munson Livingston Nov. 24, 1915.
She was converted and united with the Methodist church at Prairie City, at the age of 15 years. After her marriage she united with the Baptist church of Monroe.
She was one of our young people who did not allow anything to lessen her interest in the cause she loved, and no doubt, her memory and the kind words of invitation to her associates in this community will yet be the means of winning many of her unsaved friends an acquaintances to Christ.
While her whole life was wrapped up in making a happy home, for those few short months, she did not forget the large needs of her church and the world, and was active in all the movements that were for the uplift of humanity. While she has gone from us, she will ever live in our memory as one that imitated her Master “Who went about doing good.”
The light and joy of another home has gone out. Nellie will be missed first and most by her young companion, next by her relatives, her church and by all who knew her, but, will be welcomed home by her Saviour and the ones gone before.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon in the Baptist church at 2:00 o’clock, Rev. Droz officiating. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Music was furnished by Messrs. Cochrane and MacDonald and Misses Reitvelt and De Gooyer, Lela Droz, pianist.
Those attending the funeral from a distance were: Mr. A. J. Wing, Colorado Springs, Colo.; G. P. Wing and Dewey Daniels, Holton, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. W. Sewell, Red Oak, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Caldwell, Mrs. Nelle Scholes and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Porter, Altoona; Mr. and Mrs. Ora Clevenger, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Werner, St. Louis, Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Livingston, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Vateer Loring, Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. Chas Kellogg, Prairie City, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Hill, Long Beach, Calif.

Mr. Vandermast, will you allow me through the columns of your paper to express my sincere appreciation of the help and sympathy so freely given me by my friends in the time of my greatest need. Munson Livingston.
