Life Story of Ralph B. Livingston
Funeral services for Ralph B. Livingston, 84, of Newton, founder of the Production Credit Association in Newton and secretary-treasurer of the organization from its founding in 1934 until his retirement in 1952, were held Tuesday at the United Presbyterian Church in Newton.
The Rev. W. W. Johnson, pastor of the church, conducted the services. Burial was in Monroe Silent City Cemetery.
Survivors are his wife, Georgia; two sons, Bruce of Lander, Wyo., and Burtnett of Newton; a daughter, Mrs. Leo (Marcia) Harrington of Newton; 12 grandchildren; a great grandchild; a brother, Charles M. Livingston of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and two sisters, Mary Werner of Evanston, Mo., and Ruth Mills of Bethany, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Adda Culver in 1949, a sister and a brother.
An elder in the United Presbyterian Church for many years, Mr. Livingston was a past president of the Rotary Club and superintendent of the Sunday school for many years and originator of the Merriwed Sunday School class of the United Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Livingston also farmed until 1934 and was a large stock feeder.
The son of Charles B. and Martha Ridenour Livingston, he was born October 8, 1888, at Monroe and was a graduate of Monroe High School.
He was married to Georgia Roach July 25, 1951, in Las Vegas, Nev.
He died Friday evening at Hunter Addition of Skiff Memorial Hospital.
