Services Held
Funeral services for Harley Lewis were held Saturday, December 2, 2006, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home in Des Moines. There will be no burial. Mr. Lewis was cremated at his request.
Harley Edward Lewis, 77, of Osceola, formerly of Monroe, died November 25, 2006, at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines.
The son of Charles Henry and Gladys Eleanor (Hummel) Lewis, he was born March 27, 1929, in Monroe. He attended Monroe schools and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea. He worked at the VA Hospital in Knoxville until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He married Delores “Dee” Miler on March 9, 2004, in Knoxville.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Candy and Thomas Watson and Sherry and DeWayne Stoner, both of Newton; a step-daughter, Rebecca Green and her husband, Richard of Des Moines; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 18 step great-grandchildren; one great-great step grandchild; a sister, Georgia Ross of Monroe; a brother, J. H. Lewis of Ankeny; and a sister-in-law, Etta Belle Lewis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles “Mann” Lewis and Harry Lewis; and a sister, Nancy Roberta Ross.
