Services Held
Rex Lester died Saturday, Nov. 24, 1984 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, Nov. 27 at the United Methodist Church in Monroe.
The Rev. John McKinstry, pastor of the Christian Church in Colfax and the Rev. Otto Steele, pastor of the Monroe church conducted services.
Survivors are his wife, Joyce; two sons, Steven of Denver, Colo., and Stan of Des Moines; a daughter, Brenda Clayton of Rapid City, S.D.; two grandchildren; a brother, Rhalee Lester of Colfax; and a sister, Judy Thomas of Colfax.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
An employee of the Maytag Co. for 32 years, he was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
The son of Charles and Marie Thompson Lester, he was born March 18, 1929 in Ira, was a 1948 graduate of Colfax Community High School.
He was married to Joyce Purchell, May 20, 1950 in Baxter.
