Services Held
Services for Ivan R. Lanphier of Reasnor were held June 18, 1997, at Community Heights Alliance church in Newton. Ed Lord assistant Pastor officiated the services. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in rural Newton. Ivan passed away June 16, 1997, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton of heart failure.
Ivan, son of Arnet and Leona DePenning Lanphier was born June 27, 1928, in Jasper County, Iowa. He married Leta Marie Burkhardt March 11, 1961, in the Reasnor United Methodist Church. He worked for United Telephone Company as C.O.E. supervisor for 44 ½ years before retiring on June 27, 1989. He attended Community Heights Alliance Church. Ivan also served in Japan in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors are his wife, Leta Lanphier, rural Reasnor; four sons Glenn and Kim Lanphier of Monroe, Dan and Michele of Reasnor, Mike and Jodi of Reasnor, and Rich and Angie of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter Kim and Erv Nikkel of Reasnor; 12 grandchildren. He also left two brothers, Delmar and Joanne of Vancouver, Washington and Kenny and Shirley of Monroe; and a sister Twyla and Heuston McJunkins of Arkansas.
Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, a son Stephen Ray in 1952, and a brother Merlin.
