Services Held
Funeral services for Elvin L. Koder of Prairie City, a lifelong resident of the Prairie City and Monroe communities, was held Friday, June 5, 1987, at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.
The Rev. Dale Legg of Des Moines, a Disciples of Christ minister, conducted services. Burial was in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City,.
Mr. Koder died Wednesday, June 3 at his home.
Survivors are his wife, Catheryne; two daughters, Sheryl (Mrs. James) Ferguson and Sandra (Mrs. Melvin) Davis, both of Newton; two sons, Gene of Baxter and Jerry of Prairie City; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Margaret Bailey of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
The son of John and Ida Stine Koder, he was born Dec. 2, 1911 in Monroe.
He was married to Catheryne Jack April 18, 1937 in Monroe.
