Robert C. Knittle, 55, of the 100 block of Southwest 42nd Street died of cancer Tuesday at Hospice Kavanagh House. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Monroe United Methodist Church in Monroe. Burial will be at Silent City Cemetery there.
Mr. Knittle was born in La Crosse, Wis., and had lived in Monroe before moving to Des Moines 35 years ago. He was an accountant with the Iowa Department of Economic Development and an Army veteran. He enjoyed reading and motorcycle riding.
He is survived by two daughters, Kristin Knittle and Jillian Knittle, both of Des Moines; and a sister, Anna Shannon of Monroe. Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe, where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.

Des Moines – Robert C. Knittle, 55, of Des Moines and a former resident of Monroe, died Tuesday, June 20, at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Kober, associate pastor at Grace United Methodist Church of Des Moines, officiating. Burial services will follow at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. Friends may call after 1 p.m., Thursday, with family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Central Iowa.
The son of John E. and Dorothy Langheim Knittle, he was born December 28, 1944 in LaCrosse, Wis. He was a 1962 graduate of Monroe High School and went on to graduate from Iowa State University with a BA in government. He also earned a degree in accounting from AIB and was a C.P.A. he later worked as an accountant at the Iowa Department of Economic Development. He lived in Des Moines for 35 years, but was a resident of Monroe prior to that.
He is survived by two daughters, Kristin L. Knittle and Jillian K. Knittle of Des Moines, and one sister, Anna Mae Shannon of Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Services Held
Services for Robert C. Knittle were held Friday, June 23 at the United Methodist Church in Monroe. Rev. Scott Kober officiated the services. Interment was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Robert passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2000, at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines at the age of 55 years. A memorial for Hospice of Central Iowa has been suggested by the family.
Robert C. Knittle, the son of John E. and Dorothy (Langheim) Knittle was born in la Crosse, Wisconsin, December 28, 1944. A 1962 graduate of Monroe High School, he attended Iowa State University where he earned a degree in government. He later attended A”IB and received a degree in accounting. A CPA, Robert had been employed by the Iowa Department of Economic Development as an accountant. An Army veteran, he enjoyed reading and riding motorcycles.
He is survived by his two daughters: Kristin L. and Jillian R. Knittle both of Des Moines and a sister Anna Mae Shannon of Monroe, as well as other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, William.
