Services Held
Dorothy M. Knittle, age 79, passed away at Monroe on Thursday morning, July 1, 1993. Services were held Saturday, July 3 at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Rev. Ernie Braida, Pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton officiated the services. Interment was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
She was born at Waukon, Iowa, on March 10, 1914, the daughter of William and Anna Trumble Langheim. In 1931 she was united in marriage to John E. Knittle at Dubuque, Iowa, Mrs. Knittle was employed in the Lansing Button Factory at Lansing and later she and her husband owned and operated a café in St. James, Minnesota. Mrs. Knittle had lived in Des Moines later moving to Withee, Wisconsin for ten years. Following the death of her husband, she came to Monroe in 1985. Surviving is a daughter Anna Mae (Mrs. Wayne) Shannon of Monroe; a son Robert Knittle of Des Moines; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude Crowe of Tinley Park, Illinois; and a brother, Robert Langheim of Dubuque. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, a son John William, a grandson Patrick Shannon, two great grandsons: Garrick and Jared Shannon and two brothers: Bernard and Everett Langheim, Mrs. Knittle was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton.
