Services Held
Bill J. Knapp, 62, of Kellogg, a well known central Iowa stock car driver for more than 20 years, died June 2 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton following a heart attack.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton.
Father Edward Susic, pastor of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax conducted services. Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery.
Survivors are his wife, Roberta; three daughters, Sherry, (Mrs. John) Mottet of Nevada, Cathy (Mrs. Steve) Van Ryswyk of Monroe and June Clute of Newton; six grandchildren; a brother, John ; and a sister, Mary Jane Waddle of Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Ralph, Robert and Carl, a sister, Hazel Henry, an infant daughter, Susan Kay, and an infant granddaughter.
The son of Arthur and Lena Stultz Knapp, he was born March 19, 1929 in Clarence, Mo., and attended Jasper County Schools and Newton Community High School.
He was married to Roberta Johnson December 25, 1948, in Newton.
