Services Held
Clifford M. Klein, 73, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Thursday, June 29, 1995, at the Skiff Medical Center following a heart attack.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Zoar Church, north of Newton.
The Rev. Jim Olson, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in Zoar Cemetery.
Survivors are his wife, Doris; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Karen of Omaha, Nebraska; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Edmund Sease of Des Moines; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two sisters, Doris Rector of Monroe and Janet Leonard of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty, in infancy.
Mr. Klein, Jasper County Young Farmer of the year for 1955, was a life member of the Zoar Church, was a member of the Jasper County Farm Bureau, Jasper County Historical Society and Mariposa Grange and donated and delivered clothing and supplies to Appalachia for 25 years.
A farmer, he had been a corn salesman for Pioneer Seed for 39 years.
The son of John C. and Elvina Ellis Klein, he was born October 6, 1921, in rural Newton and was a 1940 graduate of Newton Community High School.
He was married to Doris Rodgers January 26, 1947, in Newton.
