Services Held
Garrit R. Klein, 81, of Otley, died Sunday, August 3, 1997, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella with the Rev. David Hensley officiating. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Memorials to the Otley Reformed Church will be accepted.
The son of Richard and Jennie (Van Wyk) Klein, he was born September 21, 1915, near Pella.
He married Wilma E. Hevlin December 20, 1946, in Tracy.
A lifelong resident of the Pella area, he was a United States Army Air Force veteran, serving during World War II. He was employed by Van Gorp for 20 years and worked as a farmer and an independent truck driver.
Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond L. and Bertha of Columbia; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Esther and Dale Fifer of Newton, Joyce of Otley and Ruth and Lehrl Van Krol of Montezuma; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Leland Reed of Colfax and Jean and Forrest Harrington of Harvey.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and a brother.
