Life Story of Mrs. Anna Klein
Mrs. Anna Klein of Otley passed away at the age of 77 on June 19. Services were held on June 22 at the Otley Reformed Church. Rev. David D. Schutt officiated. Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Survivors are her seven children and their husbands and wives: Alice, Mrs. Harold Van Essen of Tracy; Willard L., Arvin G. and Virgil P. Klein all of Otley; Gladys, Mrs. John De Ronde of Monroe; Geraldine, Mrs. Gerald Angove of Des Moines; and Wayne E. Klein of Pella, 28 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Also surviving were her younger sisters: Geraldine, Mrs. Norman King of Arlington, Virginia, Jessie, Mrs. Dick Van Zee of Prairie City, and Margaret, Mrs. Myron W. Brink of Colfax.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Gradus, her parents, one grandson, Junior Klein, a great-grandson, Jason Klein and four brothers, Joe Van Den Berg, Dick, Gerrit H., and Cornelius W. Van Den Berg.
Daughter of William and Anna Wessling Van Den Berg, was born on December 31, 1899 at Pella. She attended Lincoln Grade school in Pella. On December 17, 1919 she was united in marriage with Gradus A. Klein in Marion County near Pella. They had seven children. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Klein farmed in Marion County; first west of Pella, then at Pleasantville, Fairfield and then near Otley. In 1948 they moved into Otley where they continued to live the remainder of their lifetimes. While living here, Anna owned and operated the Otley lunch for 15 years. Gradus passed away January 27, 1965. For the past six months, Anna has been a patient in the Pella Community Nursing Home where she passed away.
