Life Story of Ray Otis Kingdon
Ray Otis Kingdon, 82, of Monroe, lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Sunday afternoon.
Funeral services were held at Crumpacker Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon.
The Rev. Jack Porter, pastor of the Monroe United Presbyterian Church, officiated and burial was in Monroe Silent City Cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth; a grandson, Matthew, and a niece, Mrs. Jack Duncan, all of Monroe; and a nephew, James Kingdon of Waukegan, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lela; a son, Keith; a sister, Miriam; and a brother, Boyd.
Mr. Kingdon was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Pythias.
The son of Fred and Margaret Donaldson Kingdon, he was born March 6, 1886, in the Monroe area and was educated in Monroe schools.
He was married to Lela Oldham in 1915 in Oskaloosa.
Mr. Kingdon, a former employee of the Monroe State Bank and Pfister Associated Growers in Monroe, worked at the Automatic Washer Co. in Newton before his retirement.
