Life Story of Lela Kingdon
Lela Blanch Kingdon, daughter of Silas and Ida May (McCune) Oldham was born near Monroe, Iowa, July 23, 1891 and passed away on October 3, at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 10 days.
On October 20, 1915 she was united in marriage to Ray Otis Kingdon at Oskaloosa.
Twin sons, Keith and Kenneth, were born to this union.
Survivors include her husband, Ray; a son, Kenneth; and one grandson, Matthew Jay.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Virgil, Joe, Court, Harold and two sisters, Mrs. Jim (Greta) O’Connor and Mrs. Floyd (Coral) Fuller; and a son, Keith, who was killed in World War II.
Mrs. Kingdon was a member of the Monroe Methodist Church, the Gold Star Mothers of World War II and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Funeral services for Mrs. Kingdon were held Saturday in Monroe United Methodist Church.
The Rev. James V. Poulsen, minister of the church, conducted the services. Burial was in Monroe Cemetery.
Mrs. Wayne Lubberden was the organist.
Pallbearers were Harold Bowie, Marty O’Connor, Elmo Blackledge, Duane Blackledge, Raymond Rickabaugh and Dale McComas.
Mrs. Ivan Sheeler and Mrs. Howard Young were in charge of flowers.
