Betty J. Kingery passed away February 11, 2008 after battling a long illness at Kavanagh House on 56th in Des Moines. Betty was born in Des Moines on June 13, 1928.
Funeral services were Thursday, February 14, 2008, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines with burial following at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, The American Cancer Society or Kavanagh House on 56th.
Betty graduated from East High in 1946. An accomplished pianist and organist, Betty enjoyed sharing her music throughout her life.
Betty is survived by her husband, Marion Kingery of Monroe; sons, Wayne Hodges and wife, Linda of Leonard, MI, Donald Hodges and wife, Helen of League City, TX; daughters, Betsy Hulen of Kansas City, MO and Nancy Newman and husband, Dean of West Des Moines; stepsons, David Kingery and wife, Betty and Jim Kingery and wife, Cathy; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Lloyd and Violet Speck of Des Moines.
