Services Held
Funeral services for Carl Kennedy, 83, were held Friday, Jan. 4, at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. He died Wednesday, Jan. 2, at his home in Monroe.
Dr. Otto Steele, Jr., pastor of the United Methodist Church in Monroe, conducted the service. Burial was in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.
Carl, known to family and friends as “Casey”, the son of John and Della Powell Kennedy, was born in Jasper county, Iowa, on August 31, 1901. He was united in marriage to Florence Kingery on April 7, 1928 at Knoxville, Iowa.
Survivors are his wife, Florence, a daughter, Mrs. James Fulmer (Erma Lea) of West Des Moines, a son, Dwight Kennedy of Prairie City, 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Everett Kennedy of Loveland, Colo., and Loren Kennedy of Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
