Charles Hickman, Lifelong Resident of Newton, Dies

Charles Hickman, 69, of 703 E Ninth St. S., a lifelong resident of Newton, died Saturday noon at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Morgan-Loehr Funeral Home.

The Rev. Lawrence Athey, retired Methodist minister, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Memorial park Cemetery.

Mr. Hickman will lie in state at the funeral home after 10 a.m. today.

Survivors are his wife, Hanna; a daughter, Mrs. Carroll Eichner of Killduff; and a granddaughter, Lt. Marta Eichner of the Army Nurse Corps at Fort Lee, Va.

Also surviving are two brothers, Glen Hickman of Westminster, Calif., and Delphia Hickman of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and a sister.

Mr. Hickman was a member of the Knights of Pythias.

The son of Zimriah and Sarah Marshall Hickman, he was bon July 17, 1897 in Newton and was educated in Newton schools.

Mr. Hickman was married to Hanna Pentico Dec. 2, 1933 at Newton.

An employee of the Maytag Co. for 33 years before his retirement in 1962, he worked in the repair department and the gray foundry. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa August 1, 1966
