Life Story Of Guy Banks
Guy Joseph Banks of Monroe passed away at Collins Memorial Hospital in Knoxville on October 17 at the age of 78 years, six months and 18 days.
Guy was born March 29, 1891 in Warren County, the son of James William and Sarah (Bishop) Banks. He lived his early life in Warren County and most of his later life in the Monroe Community as a farmer.
On July 17, 1909, at Newton, he married Jessie Josephine Thomasson, who survives him, along with his two daughters, Mrs. Albert (June) Lincoln and Mrs. Jack (Margaret) Kingery both of Monroe. There are 12 grandchildren and 20 great–grandchildren surviving as well as a sister, Mrs. Fred (Iva) Hevlin of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, John William and Joseph Ward; three grandchildren and two great–great– grandchildren; and one brother.
Funeral services for Mr. Banks were held Monday, Oct. 20 from the Monroe Methodist Church with the Rev. Warren McFate, minister of the church, officiating.
Mrs. James Dockum sang “Going Down the Valley” and “Good Night and Good Morning” accompanied by Mrs. Wayne Lubberden.
Casket bearers and honorary casket bearers were Dale Hume, Laverne Kingery, Herb Kingery, Bill Banks, John Fales, Jim Hewitt, Jerry Johnson, Don Palm, Jerry Benson, Johnny Fales, Russ Kaster and Richard Lincoln.
Interment was made in the Silent City Cemetery of Monroe.
