Services Held
Services for Honor Balmer, 82, were held February 13 at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Interment was in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Honor passed away February 9, 1990 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital, Knoxville, Iowa. She was born at Monroe on July 16, 1907, the daughter of Wilbur and Emma Herwehe McCauley. A 1925 graduate of Monroe High School, she was united in marriage to Leland Balmer on October 16, 1926, at Des Moines, Iowa.
Mrs. Balmer is survived by her daughter and son–in–law, Twyla and John Vriezelaar, granddaughter Susan and husband Greg Gildersleeve and their children Stacy and Doug, grandson Hugh Vriezelaar and his fiancé Gwen and her children Adam and Adrian, all of Monroe, and a brother Merritt McCauley of Los Angeles, California. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Leland, a brother Claire McCauley and a granddaughter Sandra.
