Funeral Services For Mrs. Catherine Balmer Held Tuesday
Funeral services were held at the United Presbyterian Church Tuesday for Mrs. Catherine Balmer, who died Saturday, February 25 at 5 a.m., at the home of her son, Ora Balmer and family, west of Monroe. The services were in charge of Rev. Gordon, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church, after which the remains were interred in the Monroe cemetery.
The pall bearers were the four sons and two brothers–in–law: Henry, Ora, John and Harry, Art Wright and Robert Swearingen.
Deceased was born in Germany, October 15, 1846, and came to America with her parents at the age of eleven years. She was united in marriage to Fred Balmer December 7, 1855 (sic). To this union eleven children were born, one of whom died in infancy. Mr. Balmer died May 28, 1903.
She is survived by ten children, sixteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. The children are: George, who lives in California; John, Henry, Harry and Ora, Monroe: Mrs. Emma Zimmerman, Utah; Mrs. Minnie Wright, Monroe; Mrs. Nan Schenck, Indianola; Mrs. Laura Clark, Colorado. She joined the Lutheran church when a child.
