Philip Cash Ammer was born March 1, 1927, to Ruth and Carl Ammer of Monroe, and passed away in Lake Havasu, Arizona on March 11, 1996. He attended school in Monroe, graduating in 1944, then attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1948 he moved with his family to Sac City, Iowa.
Phil was united in marriage to Dolores Jean McConeghey on August 15, 1948. They made their home in Sac City where he was associated with his father in the Hardware and Propane business. Three daughters were born to this union. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1955 where he was a businessman and a salesman. In 1971 they moved to Munds Park, Arizona and the Ammers established Ye Olde General Store and a plumbing business. He was a member of the original Pinewood Fire Department Board, the Community Church Board, and the Property Owners Association Board. For health reasons the Ammers had relocated to Lake Havasu City in 1995. At the time of his death, Phil was a member of the Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Flagstaff and the Elks Lodge in Lake Havasu City.
Survivors include his wife Dolores, daughters, Constance Jo Rainwater, Yvonee Kerwood and husband Robert, Jacqueline Johnson and husband Mark, four grandchildren, two great–grandchildren, and a sister Elizabeth Lou Long. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Rodney Hugh.
Services were held on Saturday, March 16, 1996, at Green Acres Mortuary in Scottsdale, Arizona with burial in the Green Acres Cemetery.
He will be remembered as a loving husband and father and grandfather, as well as one who truly cared about his many friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association or The American Cancer Society.
