Life Story Of Oscar Ammer
Funeral services for Oscar Ammer, 66, a longtime resident of Monroe, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday (today) at the Monroe Baptist Church. The Rev. Verlin Pulver, pastor of the Prairie City Baptist Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Monroe Silent City Cemetery.
Mr. Ammer passed away Monday afternoon at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
The son of George and Louise, Birkenholtz Ammer, he was born July 13, 1904.
He was married to Eveleyne Vaught December 24, 1926. To this union was born a daughter, Jean.
Survivors include his wife, Eveleyne; a daughter, Mrs. Neile (Jean) Strom of Jackson, Minn.; and four grandchildren; as well as a brother, Carl Ammer of Sac City; and a sister, Mrs. Howard (Edith) North of rural Monroe.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Will, and two infant brothers.
Mr. Ammer operated Ammer Hardware in Monroe for many years before his retirement.
