Services Held
W. Cecil Adams, 79, of Reasnor, died Friday evening, October 1, 1993 at his home of cancer.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.
The Rev. Joe Babcock, pastor emeritus of the Foursquare Church in Newton, conducted services and burial was in Greencastle cemetery.
Memorials to a fund in his name or the American Cancer Society will be accepted.
Survivors are his wife, Reatha; a son, Norman, of Rt. 1, Clinton; three daughters, Viola Mohler, Glorene Bailey, and Janet Smith, all of Reasnor; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Virgil, a great-granddaughter and a sister, Gladys George.
Mr. Adams had been employed at the Maytag Co. for 24 years, working on the washer assembly line at Plant 2 at the time of his retirement, and was a volunteer fireman and ambulance service helper in Reasnor.
The son of Thomas Walter and Roxie Ann Shook Adams, he was born Nov. 28, 1914 in Reform, Mo.
He was married to Reatha Osborn November 28, 1934 in Newton.
The Adamses had resided in the Mingo, Ira and Colfax areas prior to moving to Oklahoma. Later they moved to Reasnor where they lived for 20 years and then moved to the Newton area for seven years. They resided in the Lake Ponderosa area for 18 years, returning to Reasnor in 1992.
