Milligan Rites Are Held Today

Funeral services for J. H. Milligan who died yesterday morning at the Skiff Memorial hospital, were held this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Murdoch funeral home. Dr. Robert Lee Stuart officiated and Mrs. Fred Reeve sang “Abide With Me and “Rock of Ages.”

Burial was made in the Palo Alto cemetery.

Jacob H. Milligan, son of Jacob and Marie Milligan, was born Jan 23, 1871 in Jasper county and had lived in this county all his life.

He was married to Mrs. George Gearhart, Sept 19, 1923 at Marengo, Ia. He had been employed by the city as a day laborer for a number of years.

He is survived by his widow, tow brothers, Joseph Milligan of Newton, and Ed Milligan of Nord, Neb., and one sister, Mrs. Joseph Logsdon of Newton.

He is also survived by three nieces, Mrs. O.B. Harter and Mrs. O.J. Mahafey of Newton, and Stella Milligan of Baxter, Ia.; and four nephews, Loren, Earl Harold and Carl Milligan, of Baxter, Ia. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton Iowa February 16, 1927, page 1.
