Frederick "Mike" Diehm, 68, died at home Saturday, February 17, after a courageous two year battle with lung cancer. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, at Grandview Park Funeral Home.

Mike was born in Newton, Iowa to Freddie and Ada Diehm. He attended school in Newton, married Dianna Fahrney in 1956 and moved to Des Moines in 1965. Mike served his country in both the Army and Navy. He was retired heavy equipment mechanic and had worked for James W. Bell, Co, Des Moines Asphalt, E. M. Duesenberg and Correll Contractors. He was a member of local 234, loved riding his Harley, watching Nascar and races at the Iowa Speedway and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Dianna; children, Anita Diehm Geisler (Richard) Fitch, Jeff (Lisa) Diehm, Lisa J. Diehm, and Shellie (Rusty) Treanor all of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; siblings, Dave (Barb) Diehm of Ankeny, Sally (Mike) Farney of Las Vegas, NV, Lynn Auten of Newton, IA, Steve Diehm of AZ; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and son, Brad.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday, at Grandview Park Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Mike's family.
