Kimberley, Katherine Mae Russell – 1922-2015

Katherine Mae Russell Kimberley was born in Des Moines, March 2, 1922, to Richard and Nell Knodel Russell. She passed from this life to be with her Lord July 13, 2015.
Katherine graduated from Mingo Community High School, completed comptometer training, and was employed by Maytag Company and the U.S.D.A. She married John Emanuel Kimberley July 3, 1941, in Princeton, Mo., and for much of her life farmed with him on the centennial family farm south of Collins.
Katherine taught Sunday School at Mingo United Methodist Church and attended Collins United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Collins American Legion Auxiliary and served on the Central Iowa Rural Water Association Board of Directors and as past president of the Toastmistresses of Central Iowa. She loved spending time with her family, volunteering, attending classes at Iowa State University, and dancing to big band music at Lake Robbins and Val-Air ballrooms.
Katherine is survived by three sons, David J. (Carol) Kimberley, Kent D. (Connie) Kimberley and Brad J. Kimberley; grandchildren, Joseph C. (Adriana) Kimberley, Benjamin J. (Lara) Kimberley, Sara D. Kimberley Baker, Douglas K. Kimberley, John J. Kimberley and Jeffrey A. (Amanda) Kimberley; great-grandchildren, Patricia Baker, Grace Kimberley, Avery Kimberley and Lucas Nogueira; a great-granddaughter is expected in August; and several nieces and nephews. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 24 years, John E. Kimberley; sister, Frances Baldwin; brother, Richard Russell; and cousin Dick Williams.
A funeral service was Friday, July 17 at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell, with burial at Peoria Cemetery southeast of Maxwell.
