Ruth Barlow Jaimes, 90, of Newton died on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at her home. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 2, 2016, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends after the service with a lunch at the funeral home. Memorials to the Jasper County Animal Rescue League or the Newton Salvation Army may be left at the funeral home.

Ruth, the daughter of Dr. Herbert and Florence (Bullough) Marsh, was born on January 4, 1925 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She was a graduate of Clarksville High School and attended Cedar Rapids Teacher’s College. Ruth was united in marriage with Albert Elden Jaimes on September 28, 1947 in Shenandoah, Iowa. They made their home in Newton, Iowa in 1953. Ruth worked for many years as a bookkeeper for JC Penny’s and then was the Society Editor and sold advertising for the Newton Daily News. She later worked as a bookkeeper for Drug Town and then sold Real Estate before her retirement. Ruth liked doing needle handwork, was an avid reader, and enjoyed neighborhood get togethers. She was a member of the PTA, Questers, the Newton Country Club, Newton Board of Realtors, and was a Weight Watchers lecturer for eight years.

Those left to honor Ruth’s memory are her children, Marsha Mullin of Newton, Alberta Finley of Des Moines, and J.R. (Joan) Jaimes of Overland Park, Kansas; five grandchildren, Michelle (Mike) Gerdes, Jamie Mullin, Allison Rumbaugh, Megan Barbarich, and Melissa (Matt) Reiss; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Darrell Bolin of Grimes; and four nieces, Charlotte Sheldon of Johnston, Beth (Gary) Lester of Newton, Charlene (Rodney) Brooks of Florida, and Claudia (Dick) Tharp of Newton.

She was preceded in death by his parents; husband, Albert Jaimes on January 21, 2015; and her sisters, Florence Rollins, Lillian Bolin, and Ethel Madison. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 26 Dec 2015.
