Wilbur G. “Bob” Bruxvoort, 83, of Mitchellville, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015, at Mitchell Village Care Center in Mitchellville. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 31 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Reformed Church in Prairie City. Burial will follow at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 30 from 2 to 6 p.m. at First Reformed Church in Prairie City. The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials may be directed to First Reformed Church, Lake View Camp or the Mitchellville First Responders. The son of Gerrit and Wilhelmina Klazina (Samson) Bruxvoort, Bob was born on Aug. 20, 1932, in Rose Hill. Bob served in the United States Navy. On June 6, 1958, Bob was united in marriage to Janice Vos in Pella. He farmed and was a cattle feeder in the area most of his life. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Prairie City, a former member of the Christian Reformed Church in Prairie City, where he served as a Deacon. Bob also served on the school board for the Prairie City Christian School and was a member of the Iowa and National Cattleman’s Association. He enjoyed hunting, traveling and feeding cattle.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Jan; children, Patty (Mike) DeVries of Prairie City and Dave (Karen) Bruxvoort of Mitchellville; six grandchildren, Mindy (Brian) Gelder, Jay (Julianna) DeVries, Steven Bruxvoort, Scott Bruxvoort, Dillon Bruxvoort and Mark Bruxvoort; four great grandchildren, Jaylyn, Jessalyn, and Jayannalyn DeVries and Elia Gelder. Also surviving are his siblings, Richard (Marilyn) Bruxvoort of Mitchellville, Carolyn (Denny) Burke of Runnells, and Marilyn (Jack) Fitzgerald of Missouri and several nieces and nephews.
