A singer; One simple and sane; Good looks, along with a brain.”

That is the yearbook motto of Ruth Jones Wormley, NHS Class of 1938, who passed from this life Monday, Dec. 7, 2015. She is “still off saving the world somewhere” and left behind her children, Joel (Jan), Linda and George (Cindy); seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and dear friends, Beth Graves Lenz and Tom and Nancy Rudd. She leaves many beloved, stalwart friends and a lifetime of love, loss and political activism. She served on the local board of Planned Parenthood, was a state board member of the Iowa Audubon Society and was active in the League of Women Voters of Jasper County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents, Pud (M.M.) and Elva Jones; her sons Wendell, Buzzy and Terry; brothers Bud (Ben) Jones and Oog (Charles Eugene) Jones; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Marion Wormley, Winifred and Harold Tiedje and Marge and Rollie Singer.

A memorial service for both Bob and Ruth will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 at the Wittemberg Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tallgrass Prairie Audubon Society, c/o Russ Tabbert, 9 College Park Rd., Grinnell, IA 50112. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa 10 Dec 2015.
