May 21, 1928 - December 10, 2015

Willard J. Douglas, age 87 of Colfax, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Colfax United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 13, 2015, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Willard J. Douglas Memorial Fund and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The son of Willard and Clara (Miller) Douglas, Willard was born on May 21, 1928, in Delta, Iowa. He graduated from Moulton High School. Willard served in the United States Army during the Korean War and earning a purple heart. On December 24, 1954, he was united in marriage to Eleanor D. Guinn at the Methodist Church in Moulton. Willard worked at Maytag, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed racing fishing and watching sports. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Eleanor; two children, Randy (Karen) Douglas of Fairmont, Minnesota and Kim (Ty) Beard of Colfax; four grandchildren, Matt Douglas, Mike Douglas, Brandon Beard and Randi Williams. Also surviving are three sisters, Irene Hayes of Centerville, Shirley Morlan of Moberly, Missouri, and Dorothy Barrell of Centerville; two brothers, Jim Douglas of Newton and Everett Douglas of Moulton along with several nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Bill Douglas, and a daughter, Missy Douglas in 2008. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa 10 Dec 2015.
