Violet Ruth Brown, age 97 of Colfax, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at University Park Nursing and Rehab in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Burial will follow at Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will take place for one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the Howard Street Christian Church and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The daughter of Herman Glen and Stella M. (Lee) Harter, Violet was born on November 2, 1918, in Des Moines. On December 13, 1940, Violet was united in marriage to Maurice E. Brown. She was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church. Violet enjoyed working with and teaching ceramics and opened up a ceramics business "Granny's" until the mid 1990's.

Those left to honor her memory include her son, Roger (Jerri) Brown of Des Moines and two granddaughters, Deanna Jones and Laurie Brown.
