John G. Kalma Rites Scheduled For Wednesday

Funeral services for John G. Kalma, 65, of 401 E. 4th St. S., a longtime resident of Newton, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Toland Wallace Funeral Home.

The Rev. Robert Block, pastor of the Community Reformed Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery. A flag presentation will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 1 p.m. today.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara; a son, Tim; a brother, Richard of Newton; and two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Sylvia) Trotter and Mrs. Irwin (Ann) Sanders, both of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Kalma, a retired employee of the Winpower Co., was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army in the South Pacific.

He was a member of the community reformed Church, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign wars Post No. 1655 and a member of Flywheel Antique Engine and Tractor Association, Inc.

The son of George and Frederika Schroor Kalma, he was born Nov. 15, 1912 at Bussum, The Netherlands.

He was married to Barbara Louise Walker Aug. 25, 1963 in Newton.

He was dead on arrival at the Skiff Memorial Hospital Monday morning. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Tues 18 Apr 1978.
