Marilou Wendel Dies Monday; Rites Thursday

Mrs. Wayne H. (Marilou) Wendel, 58, of 900 W. 7th St. S., a longtime resident of Newton, died Monday evening at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.

The Rev. Marvin Potter, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorial contributions to the Skiff Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will be accepted.

Survivors are her husband; a son, Jeff of Iowa City; two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Allison) Bestell of Newton and Kelly Wendel of Newton; her mother, Mrs. Irene Harvey of Newton; and a brother, Robert Harvey of Oklahoma City, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1974.

Mrs. Wendel, a former employee of The Newton Daily News, was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and the Newton Country Club.

The daughter of Robert L. and Irene Fleming Harvey, she was born Mar. 28, 1920 at Los Angeles, Calif., and was a graduate of Newton Community High School and Monmouth College in Monmouth, Ill.

She was married to Wayne H. Wendel June 3, 1951 in Newton. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Tues 18 Apr 1978.
