Ernst Kienle, 77, Dies Wednesday; Rites Saturday

BAXTER - Ernst Kienle, 77, a resident of Baxter since 1930, died Wednesday at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bethany United Church of Christ, east of Baxter.

Pastor Harold Behle of the church will conduct services. Burial will be in the Bethany Cemetery.

Boyd-Nickell Funeral Home in Baxter is handling arrangements.

Survivors are his wife, Christine; a daughter, Mrs. A. E. (Klara) Milligan of Baxter; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers and three sisters, including Mrs. Reinhard (Elise) Schmidt of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, one in infancy; five brothers; and two sisters.

Mr. Kienle served in the German Army during World War I. He was a member of the Bethany United Church of Christ and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church.

Mr. Kienle had bee in the meat and grocery business with Henry Holzapfel in Baxter for a number of years and was a meat cutter at the Colfax locker for 18 years before retiring in 1966.

The son of Karl Wilhelm and Marie Friedricke Schuler Kienle, he was born Aug. 5, 1900 in Dooffingen, Germany, and attended meat cutters trade school in Calw, Germany.

He was married to Christine Rathfelder in Altbuglach, Germany.

Mr. Kienle resided in Qwill Lake, Canada, from 1923 until moving to Baxter. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly the Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Thurs 6 Apr 1978.
