Jack Sutherland Dies Saturday; Services Tuesday

GILMAN - Jack M. Sutherland, 64, of Gilman, a lifelong Gilman area resident, died Saturday morning at the Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.

Elder Dennis Taylor, pastor of the Mount Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Prairie View Cemetery in Gilman.

Survivors are his wife, Rita; four sons, Dennis R. of Waterloo, Gary H. of Des Moines and David A. and Ronald L., both at home; two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Diane) Ehler of rural Kellogg and Patricia A. Sutherland, at home; and five grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, Hibbard of Berkeley, Calif.; and three sisters, Mrs. Pete (Helen) Hansen of Sioux City, Mrs. Rush (Virginia) Clark of Iowa City and Margaret Sutherland of Donnybrook, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The son of Ray and Maude Burch Sutherland, he was born May 1, 1913 in rural Gilman, attended rural Gilman schools and was graduated from Gilman Community High School in 1932.

He was married to Rita Heese Mar. 1, 1947. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 27 mar 1978.
