Hoyes H. Hummel, 87, of Newton, died Tuesday, June 15 at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Family funeral services were held Thursday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home. Burial was in the Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

Survivors are two sons, Cliff of Fort Worth, TX and Don of Newton; two daughters, Judy Gray and Jane Hughes, both of Fort Worth, TX; 15 grandchildren; a brother, Omar Hummel of Newton; and a sister, Edith (John) Crumpacker of Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha in 1972; and a brother.

Mr. Hummel was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Parish. He was a former employee of the Maytag Co. and a retired employee of the Automatic Washer Co. The son of Hugh M. and Rachel (Roush) Hummel, he was born December 22, 1888 at Monroe. He was married to Martha Clifford on March 28, 1912 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton.
