Fred R. Hummel died at Newton 1 a.m. this morning (Thursday) after a long suffering from a malignant tumor.

Mr. Hummel was a lifelong resident of Jasper County, born here on December 10, 1889.

Among those who survive him, are his wife, the former Pearl Bowans to whom he was married December 10, 1913. Also surviving are two sons, Bernard of Monroe and Raymond of Marengo; and a daughter, Betty L. Marshall of Monroe. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and a sister.

Funeral services will be held at the United Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. Friday, the Rev. W. Guy Hamilton officiating.
