Graveside rites for Ella N. Bowie Breckenridge, 75 of 1605 N. 2nd Ave. W., a longtime resident of Newton, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 12 a the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Egel, pastor of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church will conduct services. Friends may call at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home after noon today and visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials in her name may be left at the funeral home.

She died Monday morning at Skiff Medical Center of cancer.

Survivors are two sons, Lonny Cox of Newton and Douglas Breckenridge of Denver, CO; a daughter, Charlotte Carrera of Hermosa Beach, CA five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three brothers, Howard Bowie of Newton, Norman Bowie of Mitchellville and LeLand Bowie of Denver CO; and two sisters, Rosslyn Stewart and Mary Thurman, both of Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin children in infancy, and a brother, Donald Bowie.

Mrs. Breckenridge, a homemaker, was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Pythian Sisters. The daughter of Mart K and Arvilla Hummel Bowie, she was born November 30, 1916 in Fort Dodge and attended rural schools.
